I made the half way mark with sewing the lace laye I made the half way mark with sewing the lace layers onto the velvet corset.

Sewing all lace layers on is a precise and slow process, it can be pretty calming removing the pins along the way. Creating a couture piece like this takes a lot of persistence, making it to the half way mark took about 10 hours. Knowing I probably got faster along the way I would at least another 8 hours to finish the other half of the lace, and than some more for the other detail I got planned.

I hope your loving seeing the inside progress of slow fashion, do send some good vibes to finish the lace.

Sewing on all lace layers by hand, I did 1/4 of al Sewing on all lace layers by hand, I did 1/4 of all lace and it took about 6 hours.

It looks like a long road considering I still need about 18 hours for the rest of the lace to be sewed on, yet it's a calming thing to do. Sewing by hand helps to slow down in this stressful world, it feels rewarding when you see the stunning results.

When al lace is sewed on I will add the boning & the mini thistles and beads to complete the vision I have for this project.

Mini Ikea hack tutorial for a craft room upgrade, Mini Ikea hack tutorial for a craft room upgrade, store your sewing pressure feet or other metal tools on the Ikea lamps.

Since many people noticed my strange storage location for my pressure feets and tools, I had many messages with questions about it I thought it would be something nice to share with everyone.
For the past years I've been storing my most use pressure feets and tools on my Ikea Tertial lamps, easily for the grabs and gone from my working space in seconds. The trick? I place a magnet on the lamp and let it hold every metal tool I want, if you have a strong magnet you could even place them on the inside of the lamp. (This doesn't work with non magnetic metals)

I hope this little tutorial helps you out and keeps your working space organized. So who grabbed some magnets and ran to there crafting area?

Made fabric mini thistles out of chiffon and for t Made fabric mini thistles out of chiffon and for the green velvet corset, soo far I made 36.

It's nice to see my costume vision come more to life, I designed the pattern myself and @hobbyspace_eu cut them with a laser. I designed 3 length sizes to give a more natural variation and made 2 different thickness sizes when making them.
I worked about a month on them when I wasn't working on the lace appliqués for the corset, it took about 26 hours to just make 36 thistles and I still need to make the green ends of the flower but.

I'm still working on the last 6 sizes and along the way I got more skilled in making them, I find it quite relaxing myself but my hands do need a break after 2 or 3 flowers.

What do you think so far? Would you rather use premade flowers or make your own to match your fabric choices?

While puzzling out the other side of the corset's While puzzling out the other side of the corset's lace layout I came to the conclusion I needed more black lace cut. I needed at least 1 large piece so I decided to cut an extra small one to be sure.

It's great to do this outside on my cozy balcony with my cats chilling in the background. I did make sure all the lace was cut in time since there is a heatwave going on, everything was cut before it was 26°C. I will stay inside and avoid the sun, the sad reality of my meds since I don't have air-conditioning.

With temperatures like these I stay safe and avoid the sun between 12 and 2, drink enough and listen to my body even more. In the Netherlands the upcoming 2 weeks is a code red heatwave, what is your best way to deal with these days?

What may look like a small job can surprise you wh What may look like a small job can surprise you when it comes to sewing, "just add some lace" might just take many hours or even days.
The smallest detail could take up more time than making the full skirt its placed on, yet most of the time the added detail elevates the whole piece without people noticing it when seeing the final product. I love details and sometimes catch myself adding a little to many, leaving not enough space for the other planned parts. Its leveling out a delicate balance.
